(This was published on Feb 8, 2020 on my personal page on Facebook.)
People may wonder what entails Media Reform; if they have determined to do better job for people of Hawaii or not.
Personally, (at a personal level), I would consider they are doing better job; among other things,
1. If they publicly announce that they are sorry they did not cover my candidacy as Governor.
2. If they apologize Hawaii people that they did not report about my court actions regarding the prior election; among others,
A. My complaint about the chief election officer, Scott Nago, that he (allegedly) did not do the correct job, esp. about Ms. Hanabusa’s (alleged) disqualification as a Governor candidate, since she violated the State mandate, Article II, section 7, “resign to run”.
B. If Governor Ige (allegedly) illegally donated 1 million dollars to Korean community or not.
C. If the Hawaii Court(s) did the correct job on my complaint(s) or not.
(Among others, simply, the Court denied one suit, stating I made the complaint, allegedly, based on a rumor.
My position was the motion brought by Gov. Ige should have been denied since there have been e.g. a competing evidence that, I claimed, the 1 million dollars were a bribe, and by law, he should have provided the corresponding documents if they were government grant money.)
D. If the Hawaii Court decided correctly about my motion to stay of the election due to my (alleged) complaint(s) or not.
Note: Fyi, Media did not report ANY of those, but also not covered my candidacy at all. (Perhaps, to them, they were the news that are not important to Hawaii people???…lol.)
(If any, I also invite any lawyers to join the discussion here about the above cases.)
A conversation in Richard for Governor about my court case regarding Ms. Hanabusa’s disqualification as gubernatorial candidate.
Some media have repeatedly asked me to participate in their survey, which requires me to answer some specific questions.
I gave my website, richardkimhawaii.com, and, asked them to post my website, instead.
Let’s see how they publish…?
Aloha.
Note: We need to abolish questionnaires, which have been routinely conducted by special interest groups including media.
However, instead, media should not neglect their journalistic duties.
Btw, the questionnaires might have been the sources and tools for pre-selection on their politicians for their special interests.
Yesterday, Mr. Randolph Hack, when I met him at beach, told me “Good luck with your Governorship. You can be a Secretary of war….!?”
Well, I told him as long as I get “your” (his) vote…lol.
So far, I guess I proved that I can fight for people of Hawaii. (I guess people will not doubt about that.)
Aloha.
It seems now I can advertise again on facebook, after many weeks of battling with them. I am not happy that they blocked me for weeks, but I am at least happy that I can advertise on social media again.
Aloha.
Note: Since 2016, I probably spent over $7,800 on them.
Yesterday, I met a lady (caucasian) who claimed she would vote for me; but, advised me not to oversell me in my campaign.
Yup, I understand.
But, I tend to oversell myself, mainly because Media are not only not covering me and my campaign but also not inviting me to their debates.
Well, I need to shock the people of Hawaii that I am also available and well qualified for the governor job.
“Aloha, I am Dr. Richard Kim. I am (going to be) your next (new) governor. Plz, support me.”
Why (special interests’) Q&A can be dangerous?
I received several Q&A from some special interests, including some media.
I just gave my site, richardkimhawaii.com, instead answering all of their questions.
Because, without knowing their (any possible) special interests related to such questions, answering them may only give them who they prefer or want for their interests, making their selection? process easier only for their interests (e.g. ulterior motives). Note: The groups’ phenotypic respresentation may not necessarily show their true face and purpose.
I urge those special interests groups including media (e.g. civil beat) disclose their special interests (anything related to the Questions), first.
Simply, it is not fair.
Aloha.
P.S. Besides, we may still need more research on some of the issues, before formulating our own opinions, (esp when all balanced information are not available); knowing news reports and articles may not always necessarily represent general public’s interest. Thanks.
Dear friends,
A good news.
I will probably have chance to personally meet and talk with my voters, as I may attend some non-media sponsored candidate forum or fair; although my public presentation may be limited, since there may not be debates. But, we can still discuss about issues at my booth or table.
I will keep you posted.
Aloha.
Debate?
There will be a gubernatorial debate (which they invited only Gov. Ige and Ms. Hanabusa among democratic candidates, and Ms. Tupola and Mr. Caroll among Republicans) tomorrow (6/15/18) in Kona; not to mention tonight’s forum (probably run by public media volunteers?) in Waimea, Big Island, which I was only invited at the last moment, last night, (but I was not able to go since it was too late invitation). (I strongly feel that the event organizer intentionally did not invite me til last moment because I claimed I even suspect public media if they would be fair or not; although she claimed she sent email, which I did not receive. Fyi, I double checked and gave my email address to her on our conversation more than a week ago.)
And, another debate on July 2, Monday by HNN and major TV coverage. However, I suspect they may only invite Gov Ige and Ms. Hanabusa among democratic candidates, (and, Ms. Tupola and Mr. Caroll, if Republicans included in the debate).
Just my prediction and I try not to panic…lol.
Is my filing complaint in court on June 4th, 2018 about Ms. Hanabusa’s disqualification as a gubernatorial candidate, a news worthy event for media?
Definitely.
But, look how silent the main media (including public media or non profit Civil Beat) have been. (Not a surprise…lol. Fyi, some news media have been following up with my fb posts, I believe, since some media personalities are my fb friends. Besides, my fb pages are open and already in public domain.)
Well, it may be not bad for me, because people of Hawaii would be more upset at media, when they find out they have been unreporting the news and unreasonably supporting Ms. Hanabusa, if and when I win in the court and Ms. Hanabusa becomes disqualified by court.
Aloha.
Facebook advertisement, my only social media that I have relied on my campaign, is now blocked, especially this very important time near election.
Perhaps, all other candidates are also blocked to make as if it is fair. However, this may only help those candidates (Hanabusa and Ige) who were already (only) exposed by main media.
How can all voters get to know me and my platform?
I hope this is not a part of establishments’ (and media’s) tactic.
Gee…
Lately, some main media contacted me, not for my story and info about running for governor, but for their sales for advertisement for my campaign.
I bet they might have been contacting any or all candidates for the advertisement sales.
Likewise, if I get elected to be your governor, thru some incentives and/or regulations, I will find a way to help them work fairly well, covering all the news correctly as journalists, esp. on sociopolitical news.
Aloha.
Note: Media can do the correct job, as you see. But, they often forget or neglect their duty as professional journalists.
The problem is they have no interest doing their job correctly, due to conflict of interest (e.g. money).
Wow,
For the first time, after many months’, if not, year(s)’ complaint?,
I saw my name in the newspaper (Star Advertiser) in this race for Governor…lol.
How wonderful…!?
Civil Beat just reported a false and unfair gubernatorial poll; again, by asking and giving ONLY three choices (Ige, Hanabusa, Hee) to the responders.
However, amazingly, 21% of the responders resisted and still answered either none (5%) or unsure (16%), even under unfair situation and questions given to them (responders); even if we want to believe the numbers.
Well, compared to last fake poll by Star- Advertiser, presumably my numbers must have increased…lol.
What if they included my name in the poll?
Definitely, my numbers should have been way higher than 21%, probably comparable to Hanabusa’s and Ige’s numbers.
Aloha.
Note: Civil Beat’s deception even in the article; they omitted the fact that they gave ONLY three choices (Ige, Hanabusa, Hee).
Yesterday, I (randomly) met and had some talk with a man who works at Public media (PBS? volunteer, he said).
He said, he cannot accept me as a newly elected officer because I did not have political experience.
Not to mention many other elected officers who have no previous political experiences, like President Trump, Gov. Schwarzenegger, and many others, I dared to tell him that his logic has flaws.
And, I told him that for “your kids and grandkids and future of Hawaii” a regular citizen like me should be elected; because, under many career politicians, Hawaii has been so much corrupted, and our society dearly needs reforms.
Even if I want to think for and in favor of his view and logic, it does not make sense at all, because wannabe politicians are (usually and mostly, if not, all) prescreened and preselected by Media and their power group.
Simply, his logic is, if you are not pre-selected by us (media and power group), then you cannot govern our society.
I need to be conditioned for their interests and corruption if and before I get elected?.. lol.
My dear People of Hawaii,
Do you see why and how our politics might have been so bad for so many years?
Aloha.
I was not invited; and, I believe I was intentionally excluded in the yesterday’s forum, because, among other things, my platforms and ideas may be far superior than anyone’s, e.g. “work on ourselves” or “improve our emotional health”.
Media’s bullying and sabotage continues…!!!
Fyi, (I want to be humble, but because I might have been neglected by media and this hosting group, I am disclosing this: My platforms and ideas may have been used by 3 current candidates: [Ms. Tupola and Mr. Caravalho – “work on ourselves” or ” improve our emotional (mental) health; Mr. Kaehuaea – two more holidays (Queen Liluokalani day and Eddie Aikau day)].
And, Governor Ige and his team used my motto, “common sense” on his page, but deleted it soon after I mentioned it (on fb).
And, ALL of the above mentioned candidates appeared on the forum yesterday.
Question: “If the 2018 Democratic primary for governor were held today, for whom would you vote?”
Answer: “Undecided.”
How can the answer be possible or interpreted?
Even if the primary is being held “TODAY”, the answer is undecided???….lol.
Isn’t it simply the responder (caller) is saying that he or she is not voting or not voting any of them (all three, Hanabusa, Ige, Hee)…?
According to Start-Advertiser, 15% of the callers answered “undecided”.
Definitely, this is one more evidence that the poll was a fake and intentionally made.
Aloha.
Note: Well, I would think, at least, 15% was mostly (if not, all) my votes…, even if we want to believe? their poll…lol.
Mr. Chad Blair of Civil Beat has repeatedly lied and misled the public.
He knew my probable candidacy for governor.
(I announced my possible candidacy for governor more than year ago.)
Despite my complaint after his article on Sept 7, 2017, he wrote it again on January 4, 2018, that “no other gubernatorial candidate has emerged on the Democratic side, and it could well just be Hanabusa and Ige”.
Dear my People of Hawaii,
You be the judge. Do you think Mr. Blair’s repeated such statements are true?
Why do you think he decided to deceive public even if he knew that he violated his professional ethics as a journalist?
Simply, this is nothing but “fraud”, in the name of news article.
Media Reform…!
Aloha.
And, Media want to support Mr. Hanabusa despite having no specific agenda and action plan, (yet).
Nonetheless, strangely, Media may still think she is formidable candidate.
My people of Hawaii,
Do you see the picture, yet?
Corruption triads; Media, Politicians, and Special Interest Groups.
Aloha.
Note: Watch for possible media’s manipulations, e.g. especially stealing my ideas without giving me credit (e.g. plagiarism), just like what Star Advertise did in last State Senate race in District 9.
In the last Senate race, Ms. Essoyan, a reporter of the newspaper, deceived me as if she would write fair and objective report. But, she stole my idea and applied it to her candidate of choice, currently our State Senator, Mr. Stanley Chang.
She reported I refused the interview, but in fact, I did speak to her (for maybe 15-20 minutes), due to her false assurance and deceit, e.g. that her position is different from that of other dept in the newspaper.
After realizing she might not write objective report, I told her the interview did not happen, and I refused.
Thanks for the attention.

I just placed and notified my open letter to Mr. Chad Blair and Honolulu Civil Beat, by commenting on the (his and their) post.
I am pretty sure this would be legally acceptable notice to them since they should be all aware of this open letter.
Some people may question and doubt me and my motto, (to preserve and promote Aloha Spirit); but, please remember they are the one who violated Aloha Spirit repeatedly.
Note: This is not a letter to a legal action.
Open letter to Mr. Chad Blair and Honolulu Civil Beat.
Dear Civil Beat,
Since last senate race in my district, I believe I have been mistreated, denigrated, and sabotaged by your newspaper.
Lately, in your recent article, “Chad Blair: My Akamai guide to 2018 elections” published on 9/7/2017, you continued to mislead public with malice.
You stated, for example, “With Hanabusa’s entrance, though, it’s unlikely other gubernatorial wannabes will emerge on the Democratic side.”
I want to demand your reasoning behind this, e.g. “unlikely”…wannabes.
Not to mention other mis, un, dis informations,
your continued unethical behaviors as a journalist may lead to legal action(s), e.g., class action suite(s), against your news organization, in which cause of action may include defamation, fraud, intentional and/or negligent infliction of emotional pain, and (even possible) conspiracy, etc.
Since you may want to justify your (misleading) article, I demand followings; among other things,
1. Provide your reason(s) why the “wannabes” would be “unlikely”, “with Hanabusa’s entrance”.
A. First, your statement is wrong because I already announced and made ads on fb regarding my possible candidacy since last year, (as you already knew thru fb).
B. I may have better credentials (although different) than Ms. Hanabusa, although you may claim that she has a long experience in government positions. (Fyi, I also have some good practical knowledge of law, with more than 10 years of experience.)
But, having no experience in government position does not mean I can’t be as good as an elected officer.
I am a medical professional; and as you may understand, all professionals may have somewhat same way of thinking and understanding about their subject matters although in different fields.
Besides, as you know, an unexperienced and rather under-educated person like Mr. Trump is still functioning as our president.
C. Have you conducted any polls or public surveys before your recent article? If so, why not disclosed in your article?
2. Provide your facts and evidence that you are not related to Ms. Hanabusa (and/or Gov. Ige) in terms of any interest: Simply, prove yourselves that there exists no conflict of interest, whatsoever.
3. Provide any justification or reason(s) why you tend to disregard and/or deviate from your ethics guideline.
4. What is(are) requirement(s) to be non-profit? I believe you continuously ask public donations.
Please, provide evidence that you are following all rules and regulations as a non-profit organization.
Thank you very much. Picture from Civil Beat.
“Media Reform” has never been an issue in politics?
Then, it should have been a big news, but it seems not even one media talks about it; (not to mention their silence or unwillingness to cover my possible candidacy).
This may be a classic example of “Conflict of Interest”.
Media Reform is not about censorship.
It is about adjustment and recalibration of media’s professional ethics, which have often been overly expanded and abused, in the name of their freedom of speech and free press right.
Some people may try to dilute the fact and intention; and, e.g., it is exactly what I am talking about the abuse.
Dear my people of Hawaii,
Plz, let us be aware and don’t be misled again…!
Our society’s one main problem.
Many people only demand their rights, but not want to take responsibilities.
Media in Hawaii may not be an exception.
I am pretty sure they know what they have been doing were sometimes against their journalistic ethics and professionalism.
But, they may want to justify in the name of their survival…
Well, even if and when I get elected, (if I run), Media Reform is not going to be an easy task.
But, my basic philosophy is going to be based on “Aloha”, (and “Ohana”).
We first need to forgive them of their past wrongdoing, once they are willing to reform.
Then, we may need to help promote their self reform, and ask them to provide their own action plan or blueprint.
If they need any government help doing their own reform, especially financially, then we may want to help them as much as we can. (Of course, these may have to be discussed and consulted with legislators and other government officials as well as many other people including intellectuals.)
But, after the reform, we want to make sure their independence of free press from any governmental influence, possibly by implementing a law, ensuring their rights; (so long as they don’t deviate much from balanced professional journalism–We may also need to implement and have a good media law, as well).
Media Reform may have to be the first among professionals, and also among all people.
It is because it may be most cost-effective way and for other future necessary reforms in our society.
