I urge public and other private sector (esp. union) employees to donate their sick day for (prospective) Queen Liliuokalani holiday in September, in case and if we may have some issues implementing it due to budgets (or too many holidays).
If implemented, there will be our first 4 day holidays on labor day weekend.
If so, certain sectors or departments may need to have a rolling 4 day weekend.
I hope this holiday gets thru, (although I have one more holiday, Eddie Aikau Day, in mind).

Regardless, I hope to see if we can honor Eddie’s name by celebrating his birthday as a State Holiday (1st Monday of May), if and when I get elected.
Because we need to honor his name and boost our self-esteem at the State level, but not at a corporate level.

If and when I run and get elected, I would want to declare as Queen’s Weekend, and check to see if we can handle an extra day (friday) off; 4 day holiday weekend…!!

I will try (and help) to implement two more State holidays, (if I get elected?), because we want to regularly remember (and remind ourselves) two important heros in our Hawaiian history.
1. “Eddie Aikau Day” or “EDDIE DAY”, probably on 1st monday of May, celebrating his birthday.
2. “Queen Liliuokalani Day” or “QUEEN’S DAY”, probably on 1st monday of September, celebrating her birthday. This date may coincide with Labor Day holiday; but, in Hawaii, we rather want to call “QUEEN’S DAY”, instead.
But, I will see if we can handle one more day (Friday) off, making 4 day holiday.
Keyword is Self Respect; and we may often need to boost our Self-Esteem…!!
