Best Option for Ms. Hanabusa…

Dear Ms. Hanabusa,

It seems top legislators are holding or attending your fundraising event, which is illegal by law (according to “Resign to Run” mandate, Article II, Section 7); as you already knew yourself, since you previously told Lt Gov. Doug Chin (then, Attorney General) to resign first, presumably by the mandate.

The legislators are blaming on Gov. Ige for the reason why they are supporting you; but, in my aspect, it is more because they rather fear of a big change, if I get elected; in your absence in the race due to your disqualification. (Also, they may not want to accept me from outside box, breaking the internal rule? or seniority.)

Perhaps, last year, not long after you got elected as US congresswoman, those (power players) who brought you back here for your candidacy for governor, did not carefully think you may be breaking the law.

Well, you already held several fundraising events and started campaign for governor since September 2017, which already makes you disqualified, as you know.

You know the law, and you cannot be on the ballot.

Either attorney generals and/or the court(s) disqualify you, you may not have much choice, but to withdraw your candidacy for governor and stay in US congress.

Maybe, legislators and those power players behind you, may want you to stay in the race, despite your disqualification, betting all they can.

Perhaps, they may want you to resign at the time of filing the nomination papers as a gesture (to deceive people of Hawaii).

However, no matter how much financial and emotional support you get from them, you know that it may lead to end of your career; i.e. you resign, but be disqualified by court (or attorney generals), and subsequently, can’t go back to US congress.

Please, don’t become a victim by their power play.
Although disgraceful for this moment, if you withdraw and stay in US congress, you and your courageous decision may be recorded later by a historian as a pivotal moment in Hawaii politics.

I hope you make a wise decision for you and the future of Hawaii.

Aloha.
