Gov. Ige’s team is now using the word, “Common Sense” (my motto), for his campaign, probably without much thinking and knowing that it may be a hard choice of word; because it may be not easy to defend.
Just one simple example.
Was his passing the 2.4 b tax hike bill without an audit on Rail, a Common Sense…???
Gov. Ige and his team may be on the suicidal path.
(If so, he should rather endorse me…lol.)
Gee…
Note: This was their post, before they deleted, after my post (and comment) on my page.
Aloha.
“Mr. Kalawe,
When it comes to sharing costs, fundamentally, we should help one another, (if we really need to share), because we are Ohana, after all.
But, I feel for you and don’t blame you if you feel bad about sharing the cost of rail, probably because of corruptions.
Although my plan (about rail) may need to be adjusted (later, as needed), but currently, (among other things),
1. Forensic audit first, and find out exactly why the cost had to be increased a lot more than initially projected.
2. If any wrongdoings are found, find a way to get compensated from the responsible people and/or their insurers. (E.g. If we can get any money from liability insurance, it would be good.)
3. Recalculate by exploring all plausible options; and, if possible, find a way to reduce the cost; and adjust the previous estimate accordingly.
4. If we can lower the cost, see if we can extend the rail all the way to UH at Manoa. (But, plan it for the future, in the long run, even if the cost is the problem for the near future.)
5. If more federal money can be explored, negotiate more with Fed. (I will not hesitate to visit Washington, DC, to discuss and negotiate with fed officials including President.)
These are just my thoughts, and may be adjusted as needed.
Aloha.”
