KHON2 – Governor asks legislature to cover possible transition, vacation payouts
(Although this may be too premature, I am just sharing my thoughts: I might have not written this post, if I had not seen this news segment…lol.)
Gov. Ige may be feeling the tides are shifting toward me?, not Ms. Hanabusa, although the news agency reported without scientific data, probably, due to possible conflict of interest. (This is nothing but, false news. Simple instigation, as if people should vote for Ms. Hanabusa. We surely need Media Reform, esp. on socio political issues.)
Probably, the staff may be feeling more than Gov. Ige; so, they may worry about their future.
As I stated earlier, if I get elected, I may hope to keep the current staff, as much? as I can, except a few? personal assistants.
Some of my plans if elected.
(Among other things),
1. I may want to utilize more of Lt. Gov’ role (than now?), e.g. some ceremonial attendance, etc, if and when I need to focus on our important current issues. (If necessay, I may need to meet as many people as possible, e.g. legislators.)
2. I may be seen less time with public, e.g. photo sessions, since I may want to allocate my time more on diplomacy. So, I may utilize my spokesperson(s) for public communications (e.g., media), more often.
3. Although I hope (try) to utilize current staff as they are, I may still need a few, my close own personal assistants, as long as the law permits.
Once again, I may need to learn more about staffing, hopefully quickly, if and when I get elected.
Aloha.
If and when I get elected as governor, one of the key words would be INCLUSIVE, in the perspective of all people, not just in certain groups’.
Please, remember I would always remind it to myself, e.g. whenever dealing with issues, esp. special interest group’s.
Hawaii is multi-ethnic, multi-cutural community.
Note: If any certain group of the people’s fundamental basic rights, (including native Hawaiians’), may be in danger, then I would think more deeply and help them, even if majority of people may not agree or be largely affected. Aloha.
Civil Beat – Reader Rep: Why I Write About The Local Media
Thanks, Mr. Oppegaard.
I want to much agree with you; but, I have had different and negative experience with Civil Beat than yours.
Unfortunately, your article is still subjective;but we need more of objective opinion or news article based on how you teach your students at UH, (based on professional journalistic standard).
Simply, (instead of publishing this kind of subjective article in the name of readers rep?), in order to gain wide and unequivocal support from public, Civil Beat may need to announce and publish the objective statement or blueprint, such as how they can avoid the possible, current, and future conflicts of interest, especially their own conflicts, as specific as possible. (And, they may also need to state such conflicts, if possible, on each, e.g. esp. sociopolitical news article, just like on some higher courts’ documents).
Note: Stating a promise thru their readers’ rep or just placing SPJ ethical standards on their page may not do much, except as superficial shows or public stunts.
Media Reform…!
